109.4 °FWhen to convert °C to °F
- ▸Weather forecasts — Celsius is the global standard; the US still uses Fahrenheit. 313460° in one scale feels very different in the other.
- ▸Cooking — oven recipes swap between °C and °F; a 313460° setting in one manual matches a different number in another.
- ▸Fever & medical thresholds — 100.4 °F = 38.0 °C is the classic fever cutoff; conversion errors matter clinically.
- ▸Science & chemistry — reactions specify temperature in °C or K; the conversion is fundamental.
Common mistakes
- ✕Applying the wrong direction of the °F/°C formula (many people multiply by 5/9 instead of 9/5).
- ✕Forgetting the +32 offset for Fahrenheit or the +273.15 offset for Kelvin.
- ✕Using degrees Kelvin — Kelvin has no degree symbol (write "300 K", not "300 °K").
- ✕A temperature and a temperature difference convert differently. To convert a reading, use °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. To convert a difference or an interval, drop the offset: a rise of 10 °C is a rise of 18 °F, not 50 °F. This is the single most common temperature conversion error.
Regional usage & source
Celsius is the global standard. Fahrenheit is used in the US. Kelvin is standard in science and engineering.
Reference: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Kelvin = °C + 273.15. The Kelvin was redefined in 2019 in terms of the Boltzmann constant (BIPM).

Celsius to Fahrenheit — FAQs
What is 34 °C in °F?
34 °C = 93.2 °F.
What is 23 °C in °F?
23 °C = 73.4 °F.
What is 17 °C in °F?
17 °C = 62.6 °F.
What is 230 °C in °F?
230 °C = 446 °F.
Is the °C to °F result exact or rounded?
Temperature readings use an offset as well as a scale factor: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. This is not multiplication by a fixed per-degree value. Results are calculated before display rounding; a temperature difference uses only the scale factor, not the offset.
How do I convert °F back to °C?
The reverse formula is °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. For example, 33.8 °F converts back to approximately 1 °C; a rounded intermediate result can introduce a small rounding difference.
